Equatorial Guinea’s President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo praised Russia’s historic support for African independence and highlighted the expanding partnership between the two countries. Since 2011, Equatorial Guinea has deepened military and security ties with Russia, recently strengthened through a series of high-level visits and new agreements for training and equipping the country’s armed forces. In 2024–2025, Russia deployed up to 200 military instructors from its Defense Ministry’s Africa Corps to train Equatoguinean troops, while Russian advisors support cybersecurity and infrastructure protection.
