PERN full stack app (backend, web and mobile) with old libraries needs to be refactored to latest current versions or replaced with better technology. All libraries in web and mobile will be converted/upgraded to Expo libraries where possible. We will add testing, typescript and ci.
Existing PERN stack is based on old Parse Server BAAS. We will discuss the possibility of stripping the Parse BAAS and replacing it or upgrading to latest version.
We will be using AI to assist in code generation. Experience in VSCode and Copilot preferred.

Needs to be fluent in Parse Server, NodeJS, React, React-native, JavaScript, Expo and EAS.
Experience with Firebase and Redis a plus.

Candidate should have at least two project code examples with a majority of these technologies he or she independently authored. Initial interview will do a quick review of your own code. The candidate will then review and discuss a snippet of code from the stack that is to be upgraded.  
At first, this needs to duplicate the functionality of the original app. When that is done and deployed, this position will transition to an innovative role authoring new features. This position can become long term.

Candidate will start with a 2-hour fixed price test contract to determine your level of expertise and comfort. This will be reasonably representative example of the actual work.

If we agree to go forward, we will discuss whether this will be hourly or fixed price.

An NDA will be required.

Hourly Range: $15.00-$30.00
