Bengaluru, February 23
Authoritative fifties by Richa Ghosh and Sabbhineni Meghana were well-supported by crafty leg-spinner Sobhana Asha as Royal Challengers Bangalore celebrated their first home Women’s Premier League match with a nervy two-run win over UP Warriorz here today.

Richa (62) and Meghana (53) pushed RCB to 157/6 on a slightly tacky pitch as they added 71 runs for the fourth wicket in 50 balls.
Grace Harris (38) and Shewta Sehrawat (31) milked 77 runs in 44 balls for the fourth wicket but UP could not survive a five-wicket haul by leg-spinner Asha (5/22) as they ended at 155/7.
UP were well on course for a win at 116/3 in the 15th over, but Asha’s three-wicket burst in the 17th over changed the complexion of the game.
She jettisoned Harris, Sehrawat and Kiran Navgire in that over to break UP’s back.
Brief scores: Royal Challengers Bangalore: 157/6 in 20 overs (Ghosh 62, Meghana 53; Gayakwad 2/24); UP Warriorz: 155/7 in 20 overs (Harris 38, Sehrawat 31; Asha 5/22).
