Job Title: Next.js Developer for Full-Stack Web Application
Scope of Work:
We seek an experienced Next.js developer to build a new, complete, production-ready web application using the Next.js framework. The app should include server-side rendering and client-side rendering capabilities. The developer will be responsible for implementing the front-end user interface, building the full backend logic, including a PostgreSQL database and architecture. Many of the screens must be responsive to mobile phones.
We will provide a design and design team to ensure a fluid front-end interface. The developer does not need to create or come up with the design.
About the Project:
The project involves the livestock processing industry (Beef, Poultry, Swine/Hog). The site aims to allow animal farmers (Producers) to search and book appointments with animal harvesters (Processors) to have their animals processed and harvested according to their customers’ needs. **There will be discussions about harvesting meat and slaughtering animals. If you are sensitive to this topic, please do not apply.**
This project is in coordination with the University of Nebraska, and there will be Zoom calls and other meetings with professors, customers, and other stakeholders. If you are interested in attending or participating at this level of the project, we are open to it.
The application has 3 different interfaces, 2 of which will require login/signup/lost password functionalities and their own dashboards and menu systems.
The 3 parts of the site are:
– **Public** – The public can search for open slots, filter, and see the results.
– **Processor** – A few pages for the processor to log in, create orders, view orders, respond to requests, and message to/from the Producers.
– **Producer** – A few pages for a Producer to log in, view their open orders, search and book other orders, and see the progress of open orders.
Timeline:
We require the application to be delivered within 6 months from the project start date of March 1st, 2024. Candidates should be able to work on an aggressive timeline and meet strict deadlines. These dates are not flexible at the moment. This is a hard deadline.
Collaboration:
The developer will work closely with a few team members, stakeholders, and our designer. Regular communication and collaboration are expected throughout the project lifecycle.
Future Opportunities:
This project has the potential for ongoing maintenance and feature enhancements. Successful candidates may be considered for future projects and long-term collaboration.
Areas for Guidance:
We are open to suggestions and guidance from the developer regarding project architecture, best practices, and industry standards. We value their expertise in Next.js and welcome recommendations for improving the application’s performance, scalability, and maintainability. After a review of the application, if Next.js isn’t the best or fastest platform for this type of work, a change will be considered.
Required Experience:
– Minimum 4 years of experience with React and Next.js
– Proficient in TypeScript and modern JavaScript
– Familiarity with server-side Actions, API development, and data ingestion
– Experience with CSS solutions, specifically Tailwind CSS
– Understanding of RESTful APIs and data fetching techniques
– Knowledge of performance optimization techniques for React applications
– Familiarity with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library)
We encourage candidates to review the provided resources and showcase their understanding of Next.js best practices and architectural patterns in their application.
Please submit your proposal, including a detailed timeline, cost estimate, and relevant experience. We look forward to reviewing your application and discussing this exciting project further.
