Overview:
As a Backend Engineer for our social media website, you’ll play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side logic, database architecture, and API infrastructure that power our platform. You’ll work closely with our frontend developers, product managers, and other cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems that enable seamless user experiences.

Responsibilities:
Design and develop robust, scalable, and maintainable backend services and APIs to support various features of the social media platform.
Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate frontend components with backend services effectively.
Architect and optimize database schemas and queries to ensure efficient data storage, retrieval, and manipulation.
Implement authentication, authorization, and security mechanisms to safeguard user data and maintain privacy.
Monitor and optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability to handle increasing user traffic and growth demands.
Participate in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to maintain code quality and resolve issues promptly.
Stay updated with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in backend development and apply them to enhance our platform.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and QA engineers, to deliver new features and enhancements on schedule.
Collaborate with DevOps engineers to deploy, manage, and scale backend services in cloud environments, ensuring high availability and reliability.
Contribute to the overall architecture and technical roadmap of the social media platform, providing valuable insights and recommendations for improvements.

Requirements:
Solid understanding of MongoDB for database management
Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong proficiency in Node.js as the backend is built on it
Solid understanding of web technologies, including HTTP, RESTful APIs, and web security principles.
Experience with relational and non-relational databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools like Jira, Git, and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
Passion for social media and a keen interest in contributing to the growth and success of a dynamic online community platform.

Hourly Range: $30.00-$50.00
