India’s Ministry of External Affairs addressed a wide range of key geopolitical issues during a major press conference, including Bangladesh’s remarks on illegal immigrants, the status of the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, Operation Sindoor, Khalistani extremism in Canada, Nepal border claims, BRICS meetings, and the Strait of Hormuz crisis. The MEA reiterated that “talks and terror cannot go together” while maintaining that the Indus Waters Treaty remains in abeyance until Pakistan ends support for cross-border terrorism. India also confirmed ongoing diplomatic engagement with Iran to ensure safe passage of Indian ships stranded near the Strait of Hormuz.
