Prime Minister Narendra Modi warmly received UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) at the Delhi airport, underlining the close personal bond and strong strategic partnership between India and the United Arab Emirates. In a notable gesture, PM Modi personally welcomed MBZ and both leaders departed the airport together in the same car, reflecting the depth of bilateral ties. During the short but significant visit, crucial discussions are expected on defence cooperation, trade, energy initiatives and industrial collaboration. The Prime Minister’s Office also shared visuals of the two leaders arriving at PM Modi’s residence, where the Indian leader presented MBZ with traditional gifts — a beautifully carved wooden swing from Gujarat and a Kashmiri pashmina shawl in an ornate silver box. This marks MBZ’s third official visit to India since becoming UAE President. The visit gains added significance amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, including Iran–US frictions and regional strains involving Gulf nations.
