An Iranian lawmaker has dismissed U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning of intervention if peaceful protesters are harmed during Iran’s nationwide anti-government demonstrations. Vahid Ahmadi, a member of Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said Tehran is prepared to respond “with full force” to any miscalculation. He argued that domestic instability in the United States and Israel makes direct action unlikely. Commenting on Venezuela, Ahmadi reiterated Iran’s stance that nations should determine their own future, calling recent U.S. actions a matter for the Venezuelan people.
