Lithuanian Defence Minister Dovile Sakaliene and several EU and NATO leaders have called for the urgent construction of a “drone wall” to protect Europe’s eastern borders from Russian aerial threats. The push, made at a Brussels summit, follows a surge in Russian drone incursions over Poland, Lithuania, and other EU states—with some incidents involving drones carrying explosives. The proposed drone wall would integrate sensors, interceptors, and cross-border communications to rapidly detect and neutralize unmanned incursions, drawing on lessons from Ukraine’s highly successful anti-drone operations.
