As trade tensions rise over President Donald Trump’s decision to impose a steep 50% tariff on Indian exports for purchasing Russian oil, former Pentagon official Michael Rubin has come out in India’s defense. Speaking ahead of an upcoming US-Russia meeting, Rubin said Trump is wrong in targeting India. He predicted that once this dispute passes, bilateral ties will improve significantly, even as critics in India accuse Washington of double standards, given lower tariffs on China for the same Russian oil imports.
