Venezuela has accused U.S.-backed opposition groups and narco-gangs of plotting a deadly terror attack to overthrow President Nicolas Maduro. According to Minister Diosdado Cabello, the plot targeted Plaza Venezuela, military sites, and key infrastructure, using 30 kilos of TNT and a $50 million bounty. Authorities say a four-day surveillance operation led to 13 arrests, foiling what they call a U.S.-linked coup attempt. Cabello blasted Washington, calling the DEA “the biggest cartel.” With tensions between Caracas and Washington at boiling point, the allegations could spark a major diplomatic crisis.
