China on September 24 urged both Israel and Hezbollah to ‘cool down’ the situation amid hostilities. China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said, “China is closely following the current tensions between Lebanon and Israel and feels deeply shocked by the heavy casualties inflicted by relevant military operations.” Meanwhile, Beijing also said it opposes any infringement on Lebanon’s sovereignty and security.
