We receive remittance advice from customers each day, usually in Excel.  Each customer uses a different format and sometimes staff within those customer use different formats, so creating an automation for each possibility is challenging.

Each file is usually paying for anything from 3 to 100 invoices in the same payment.

We want to use AI to explain the general principles so that it knows what to look for within each file and outputs the key information.

Sometimes the data is not in the best quality and misses key information like invoice numbers and we then need to use other data to find what it was the customer intended to pay for.

My thoughts are to create a Power Automate that takes attachments and puts them in a folder to be processed by the next automation.

Two suppliers password protect or zip and pw protect their files.

I’m open to other ways of achieving the same outcome if there are alternative suggestions.

There are other similar projects in the pipeline, such as training AI to automatically draft a response to incoming customer queries, so they can be reviewed prior to sending – but saving the job of writing the response.
