I want to create an Obsidian plugin for browsing files that has a column browser that behaves similarly to Apple Notes. Attached is a example screenshot showing the following:

1. The first column showing a list of collapsible folders and the number of items in each. Folders can be nested

2. The second column showing a list of notes within the selected folder (only 1 level). If the note has images, a small square thumbnail is shown. The date/time is shown when the note was last modified (show the time if in the last 24 hours, otherwise, show the date). List view only (no thumbnail view needed).

3. The third column is the note edit/preview.

This plugin would work similarly to an existing plugin called File Tree Alternative:

https://github.com/ozntel/file-tree-alternative

If it helps to fork that plugin, you can do that if you are confident it won’t be problematic. But it has quite a few bugs so it’s probably best to start from scratch. (If you choose to fork that plugin, I’m open to contributing back any changes/fixes to the developer.)

Note that you mu have strong knowledge of Obsidian and its plugins, as well as JavaScript, in order to complete this project.
