Imagine a diagram drawing interface (like LucidChart, Draw.io, or Visio, but super basic) that lets you draw shapes and arrows to build a dataflow diagram, and each shape/arrow in the diagram is an object instance that you can populate with relevant attributes (i.e., type of data processing, list of data elements processed, if/how data is encrypted, list of security controls applied, retention policy. etc.) through a dialog box on the diagram. The ultimate goal is to build an interface for populating privacy/security risk assessment documentation through a diagram-first approach versus current tools that are strictly questionnaire based.
The reason for the relational database is so that attributes can be linked and aggregated across diagrams over time. For example, the user should be able to query the system for things like:
– List all diagrams that contain System A
– List all the data elements that are processed through System X (aggregated across all diagrams containing System X)
– List all Systems which process data element S (ex: SSN)
– List all the Systems that receive data from System A
I’m looking for someone to work on a project basis with clear demo-driven milestones. While I used to be an average coder, I haven’t written production code in almost 7 years. However, my ultimate goal is reach a point where I can maintain and continue building this out, possibly as an open-source project.
