World Vision is a global Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. Our mission is to empower the world’s most vulnerable populations, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender. With operations in nearly 100 countries and a diverse team of nearly 40,000 staff members, World Vision addresses critical areas such as health, education, livelihoods, food security, child protection, economic empowerment, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).

Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) are fundamental to the well-being of children and communities. World Vision’s WASH programs contribute significantly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), which aims to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all by 2030. Despite significant progress, billions of people still lack access to safe drinking water and sanitation. Achieving universal access by 2030 requires accelerating the current rates of progress, particularly in low-income and fragile contexts.

World Vision’s WASH business plan outlines a strategic framework for improving water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services globally, guiding our global commitments and targets. This plan will integrate information from seven regions and 43 countries, capturing the vision, values, and goals driving World Vision’s work. The primary objectives include accelerating universal and equitable access to WASH services, focusing on fragile contexts, demonstrating sustainable impact through evidence-based practices, and leveraging funding to support these initiatives.

The WASH Business Plan operates through a multi-faceted approach, leveraging World Vision’s extensive field presence and expertise. It integrates innovative technologies, community-based interventions, and strategic partnerships to address complex WASH challenges. The plan prioritizes inclusivity, aiming to reach marginalized groups such as women, children, and people with disabilities. By focusing on capacity building and local ownership, the plan ensures the sustainability of WASH services. It also includes rigorous monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track progress and impact, thereby ensuring accountability and continuous improvement. Through these concerted efforts, World Vision aims to create lasting change in WASH practices, contributing to the overall health and well-being of communities worldwide.

The 2026-2030 World Vision WASH Business Plan builds on previous successes while introducing innovative strategies to tackle emerging challenges in the WASH sector. It will emphasize an integrated approach to improve access to WASH services, enhance water security, climate resilience, and sustainable water resource management. Incorporating mapping technologies and data-driven methods, the plan aims to optimize the impact and efficiency of WASH interventions. Strategic partnerships and cross-sectoral collaborations will create scalable, sustainable solutions adaptable to various global contexts and challenges.
