We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced software developer to help convert our large-scale .NET Framework website, currently written in VB, to .NET Core in C#. The project is a substantial piece of software with over 100,000 lines of code. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of both VB .NET and the latest .NET Core technologies, as well as experience working with PostgreSQL.

Responsibilities:
– Analyze the existing VB .NET Framework codebase and understand its architecture and functionality.
– Execute the migration of the website to .NET Core in C#, ensuring all features and functionalities are preserved.
– Optimize and refactor the code where necessary to align with best practices in .NET Core development.
– Conduct thorough testing to ensure the migrated application is stable, performant, and bug-free.
– Provide regular updates on the progress of the project and promptly address any issues that arise.

Requirements:
– Extensive experience with VB .NET and a deep understanding of its features and quirks.
– Proven expertise in .NET Core and C#, with a solid grasp of modern development practices and tools.
– Strong familiarity with PostgreSQL, including experience with database migrations and optimizations.
– Ability to work with a large and complex codebase, understanding and translating its functionality accurately.
– Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
– Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a remote team.
– You will need to keep track of your hours through the Upwork time tracker. No manual time will be paid for. Please confirm that you have read this and except this condition.

Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience with large-scale migration projects.
– Familiarity with front-end technologies used in conjunction with .NET (e.g., ASP.NET, JavaScript frameworks).
– Prior experience working on Upwork or similar platforms with a track record of successful project completions.
