Developer wanted to build on top of https://github.com/ReagentX/imessage-exporter. The task is to create a Windows Executable and a Mac Executable that use the imessage-exporter (a Rust Crate) to show a list of SMS conversations to a user from their iPhone, prompt them to export a single conversation, and then extract the conversation (with optional date range) as a JSON object that identifies the participants in the SMS conversation along with their associated content within the conversation. The implementation can use Electron or be native for the Windows and Mac Binary, and the Rust Crate need not be dynamically or statically linked, but instead, could be built as a command line utility that is exec()’d by the calling Windows/Mac binary (if that makes things easier). This tool would be used by the user who owns the device and wants to export a conversation to be analyzed by Phase 2 of the project. If the Phase 1 is successful and proves viable, there will be follow-on work to engage back-end processing content of the exported content and present an analysis to the user. Required skills: Rust, Windows and Mac based binaries along with associated installation and configuration.
If you are interested in working on this project, please include one sentence on what you foresee as main technical challenge. We will respond to inquiries that include this statement, thanks!
