We are a leading news publisher renowned for our innovative approach to journalism and technology. Our latest achievement is an in-house AI-powered article generation tool, and we are seeking a Senior Front-End Engineer to join our dynamic team on a short-term basis. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge project that is transforming the way news is produced and delivered.

We have a small team working on extending the proof of concept out into a more scalable version (version 2.0). The work will be geared towards understanding the current work performed to date and then a focus on implementing a robust front-end to the platform as it is further rolled out across the organisation.

Responsibilities:

– Collaborate with our development team to enhance and optimise our AI-powered article generation tool.
– Implement high-quality, responsive front-end components using React.
– Work on tool-specific features rather than standard web pages, ensuring a seamless user experience.
– Provide guidance and mentorship to a junior developer, fostering a collaborative and productive working environment.
– Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile development processes.

Requirements:

– Proven experience as a Senior Front-End Engineer, with a strong focus on React.
– Demonstrated ability to work on complex tools and applications, not just standard web pages.
Excellent understanding of front-end development best practices, including performance optimization and responsive design.
– Experience with state management libraries (such as Redux) and modern front-end build pipelines and tools.
– Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.
– Previous experience coaching or mentoring junior developers is highly desirable.
– Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

– Experience with AI or machine learning projects is a plus.
– Familiarity with back-end technologies and API integration.
– Knowledge of UX/UI principles and a keen eye for design details.

Hourly Range: $30.00-$52.00
