Indian foreign minister S. Jaishankar met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on July 4 on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Astana, Kazakhstan. Jaishankar told Wang that “respecting the lac is essential.” Both Jaishankar and Wang also “discussed early resolution of remaining issues in border areas.” The two sides agreed that prolonged tension at Lac is not in the interest of either side.
