The research team is now developing impact performance benchmarks in forestry and healthcare. These benchmarks solicit expert input on what metrics should be gathered and then proceed to gather data from impact investors. This data is then displayed in data visualization dashboards built by our tech consultants in Javascript and made accessible on the GIIN’s publicly available benchmarks. Those that submit data can see customized analytics that help them understand their own impact performance compared to the impact performance benchmarks and their peers. The team is currently in the process of collecting data and looking to test out different visualizations for a variety of use cases. For example, investors can use these tools to set impact targets, identify investments that are underperforming and outperforming, and/or report on impact in a contextualized way.
The GIIN’s research team is looking for a user experience researcher/designer to help shape the design of the forestry and healthcare benchmarks. The designer will review existing materials and data structures and subsequently develop a range of tools to test options to display data in an engaging way that meets the needs of external users. This will involve iteration both with the GIIN’s internal research team, IMM/IRIS+ team, and a set of external end-users and will result in a series of prototypes to be implemented by our tech consultants.
Responsibilities:
– Lead a process of synthesizing existing information and materials gathered by the research team, internal conversations, and end-user testing.
-Distill large amounts of existing data into simple and usable prototypes representing specific use cases
– Develop Figma (or other comparable design software) prototypes or the forestry and healthcare benchmarks that reflect a clear, consistent, and communicative design philosophy. These prototypes should be sufficiently developed as to be implemented by the GIIN’s tech providers.
– Work alongside research team to conduct user testing with prototypes and iterate on designs based on feedback received from end users
– Ask questions and challenge the status quo throughout the design process to improve data collection and benchmark direction for the future
– Collaborate with the GIIN’s tech providers to implement prototype designs into usable
Candidate Profile:
– Background in designing intuitive and actionable dashboards from complex underlying data.
– Background in designing for impact measurement tools, frameworks, and/or metrics is a plus.
– Experience with Figma or other interface design tool
– Experience with user testing and design research (especially virtual)
– Comfort with iterating on designs, actively asking questions, and responding with flexibility to user experience and research
– Experience in executing processes and tools to support co-creation of high-quality deliverables.
– Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools.
– Ability to quickly iterate over a sprint process
– Familiarity with benchmarks and their applicability/use cases in diverse contexts.
