We are a leading seller of premium Scandinavian-designed kids’ playmats, currently dominating the premium segment on Amazon. As we aim to double our business in the next 12 months, we are looking to expand our sales through our own revamped website. We seek a talented and experienced WooCommerce or Shopify Website Developer to help us achieve this goal by enhancing our current site and possibly recommending a platform shift.
Role Overview:
You will be responsible for transforming our outdated website into a visually stunning, highly functional, and premium online shopping site with a conversion rate above industry standard. This includes fixing current issues, suggesting the best eCommerce platform for our needs, creating a new visual identity, building and testing the site, and setting up robust analytics.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Immediate Functionality Improvements:
o Resolve SSL certificate issues on the AU site to ensure it is secure.
o Configure the WooCommerce Amazon fulfillment plugin for seamless order processing via Amazon AU.
o Recommend and set up an analytics tool (e.g., Google Analytics) to track traffic, conversion rates, abandoned carts, etc.
o Resolved current slow loading speeds
2. Platform Recommendation:
o Evaluate and recommend whether we should continue using WooCommerce or transition to Shopify based on our business needs and future goals.
o Note: We currently use WooCommerce for both our US and AU sites, but the website builders are different. US uses Elementor, AU uses Beaver Builder.
3. Visual Identity and Layout Creation:
o Develop a new visual identity and layout for our website that aligns with our premium brand positioning. This includes a new website color palette, typography and overall art direction.
o Refer to the "Think, Feel, Do" framework, website mockup and mood board in the attachment.
o As the playmat market is getting more crowded, our strategy is to tell the stories behind our designs (e.g. what different rug motifs mean) and communicate the “why” behind the business.
4. Website Development:
o Focus on building the Home page and product pages, ensuring flexibility to accommodate new designs in the future.
o Create a user-friendly, visually appealing, and easily navigable website for a small product range with anticipated new launches.
5. Website Testing:
o Ensure the website loads quickly, with all images and videos optimized for performance.
o Test for and resolve any issues across different devices to ensure a seamless user experience.
6. Advise and set up Customer review tool
o Advise what Customer review tools are recommended, their advantages and disadvantages and pricing
o Help set up agreed tool
7. Advise and set up email plug in for customer communication
8. Set up accurate Sales tax collection for the US market
What does success look like?
1. Successful delivery of all technical requirements
a. Swift resolution of technical issues, ensuring the AU site runs smoothly.
b. An easy-to-use website that allows us to make changes effortlessly.
c. A fast-loading site with optimized media.
d. Effective setup of analytics, providing clear insights into traffic, conversion rates, and the impact of site changes.
e. Delivery of a new visual layout that exceeds expectations, presenting a fresh, premium, and captivating online presence.
2. You take the brief, digest it thoughtfully, and come up with even better solutions than we could have imagined
a. E.g. you suggest quick wins of things we can do now vs things that take longer time
b. You come up with a new visual layout that is beyond what we could have imagined
c. You are proactive, independent and don’t require micro management. You identify problems we hadn’t thought of and come up with smart solutions we were not aware of
3. We have a fun collaborative, working relationship. We learn from each other, bounce ideas off each other and energise each other. Together, we create something far greater than either of us could have achieved alone.
4. We become long term partners. You become a critical part in our journey to double the business in the next 12 months and grow 10x in the next 3 years, by taking our website design and functionality to new levels.
Required Skills and Attributes:
1. Extensive experience and passion for developing WooCommerce or Shopify websites with a strong understanding of branding.
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. An eye for clean, stylish, and premium web design.
4. A solid grasp of how design influences conversion rate, balancing creating a beautiful website with a website that converts
