We’re seeking a visionary yet pragmatic Knowledge Architect to design the transformation and manage the transition of our existing hard-coded PHP/MySQL website into a flexible, scalable content platform. In addition to the technical skills (listed below), you’ll need to possess strong problem-solving and strategic thinking skills, as well as the ability to balance the long-term strategic vision with the immediate practical needs of the business. The successful candidate will be highly intelligent, honest, hard-working, and adaptable.

Your Responsibilities

Manage Ongoing Technical Implementation:
– Understand the logic and standards of the current website and oversee the development of new content and data sections on our current PHP/MySQL-based website, using the Laravel framework.
– Identify the optimal implementation approach for high-level requirements, juggle multiple priorities, and translate them into detailed, actionable tasks for the Laravel development team
– Manage the team, workflow, and deadlines for new sections and features
– Collaborate closely with our data analysts and content creators

Design Future-proof Architecture:
– Design a scalable, future-proof architecture that can accommodate our rapidly expanding data and content needs, potentially centered on a knowledge graph database such as Neo4j to model the complex relationships between entities.
– Design a custom content management system tailored to our unique requirements.
– Plan and oversee the implementation to ensure a smooth transition from the current website to the new architecture.

What We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a proactive mindset and a passion for creating innovative solutions to capture, organize, and disseminate diverse information.

Technical Expertise:
– Laravel, including Blade and Eloquent
– Modern JavaScript front-end frameworks like Vue.js and React
– Database design and modeling for both relational (MySQL) and NoSQL/graph (Neo4j) databases
– Proven track record of designing and building RESTful or GraphQL APIs
– Knowledge of Elasticsearch or other search/indexing technologies (optional)
