In a big move, the UNSC on June 10 endorsed the U.S.-led Gaza ceasefire proposal. Fourteen out of fifteen council members voted in the resolution’s favor, while Russia abstained. The UNSC resolution called on both Israel and Hamas to agree to the new ceasefire plan. Russia’s UN envoy, Vassily Nebenzya, said it is doubtful if Israel has agreed to the ceasefire.
