A small events and conference organisation would like  investigate the use of odoo erp to organise their business, events and crm.  

To be clear this is for the open source version of odoo

Currently work is done by manual tasks and a lot of Excel sheets.
This will be a complete greenfield project.

The fist stage is to set up a proof of concept that needs to show

1. Hosting, what are the options –

2. Company configuration
3. User types, roles and permissions config
4. Layout, branding and view configs and customisations
6. Events app config
7. CRM  app config
8. Dashboard app config

The company is winning business to run other companies events as a managed service type offering.

Goals:
Registration, Commerce & Attendance:
The most pressing goal is to completely demonstrate that
– consumers can purchase event tickets,
– registration data can be collected at checkout
– attendees can be checked in during the event
– attendees can be notified of any marketing material

API:
Each event typically has their own website with existing front end websites.  The P.o.C would need to demonstrate the feasibility and effort required to connect a front end website to available apis or how individual event could have it’s own website page using the existing website builder on other recommendations.

Saas:
They are also investigating if they can share their software and processes as a saas offering.  As such one goal of the proof of concept is to demonstrate the feasibility and effort of setting up odoo with multiple seperate isolated companies, hopefully with the same rules and processes.

Deliverables:
1. Hosted solution with own domain
2. Configured environment with working configuration
3. Blue print, learnings & training documents
3. Plan to implement as a production system

The assumption is that if the P.O.C is successful, then the production deployment would start immediately with a hyper care period before moving into an on going support and customisation development work.
