Reception:
– Answers the phone and looks up the callers info in the lookup table, and can answer any question for the caller.
– If the caller wants transportation, he will press a button which will gather info from the lookup table which already includes the pickup location and drop off location. This info can be modified if needed (not in the table, only for dispatch).
– Once reception verifies with caller that all info is correct or modified any changes needed he will press a button to transmit the info to Dispatch
Dispatch
Dispatch only sees and handles the calls once a caller requested transportation and reception transmitted data to them
– Has a screen (maybe also kind of grid) with 5 tabs where he can see calls (calls are the ones who requested transportation) and each line is color coded based on status.
Tab1 Open calls = No car was yet assigned yet,
Tab2 Covered Calls = car was assigned but was not pricked up yet
Tab3 Open and Covered = can see both from above, color coded line based on status so dispatch knows status
Tab4 Picked up = once the driver picked up the passenger
Tab5 All calls (open, covered, picked up)
– Once a call comes in the Dispatcher will select a driver
– Once a drover is selected it should send an alert with the info of the call to that driver (pickup address, destination, phone number)
– Dispatch should be able to see on map location of each driver
We have a lot of people calling back after they requested a car, asking how much longer they need to wait, so I want reception to be able to see approx how much longer till car reaches pickup location.
I want all this in a nice GUI, user friendly and easy to use.
I’m sure I have a lot to add (like caller ID interception) for easy lookup, but I think this will be once we have to main part setup.
I don’t know which API to use to track cars and see location and estimated time to pickup, let me know if you have anything in mind or I think there is something called OpenTripPlanner, if you can look into and let me know.
