I’m hoping to create an ecosystem of tools to help members improve their careers through skills development (online courses), networking with peers (blogs, forums and chat), keep up to date with the latest industry events and news (news feeds) and ultimately earn a better living through job posts and applications (jobs board).

I’ve worked on a few web development projects in the past, and have pumped a lot of capital in to these to unfortunately no success. I put this down to going to big too fast, and to trying to build out modern web applications from scratch using full-code methods. In this case, to make sure I will have full control over subsequent development once the MVP is finished, I am hoping to roll this out as no- or low-code solution.

I started writing out the pages that I’m hoping to see, but have decided not to do this at this stage as this will be a good first milestone for the project. Instead here are some notes on required features:

– Profiles
— Members = create profiles, manage preferences, apply to jobs, centralise notifications from across the platform (courses, blogs, forums, chat, news feed and jobs board)
— Companies = consolidated jobs board for a company, manage team of recruiters, track interaction between Recruiters and Members
— Recruiters = representing companies, track statistics, view interested members/job candidates, message directly

– Job Board
— Members
— Search and filter by title, description, category, country, employer
— Shortlist / apply to jobs
— Companies/Recruiters
— Post/Edit & Close a job post
— See status of posted jobs and applicants etc
— Would like to use a scraper to automatically post jobs. This should automatically create Company Pages that can be requested for ownership by the company if they so choose. The scraper would then automatically post a job to the Company Page and notify the page admin that the scrape has identified and added a new job and that they should remove it if required. The scraper may only be a temporary solution, but would like to use the scraper to initially populate the database of jobs and create Company Pages with lists of Company Job Posts.

– Chat
— Member x Recruiter
— Member x AI?
— Use questions to populate database to help improve job posts (analytics)

– Online Courses
— Members= anyone can post a course, to be reviewed by Admin
— Registered = vetted professional courses

– Blog Posts
— Members = anyone can post a community, to be reviewed by Admin
— Registered = posts by admin or team members

– News Feed = integration of an AI based news feed aggregator, this would link to the original source, simply a way to centralise links and headings relevant to a member

– Forums

– Analytics
— Admin = dashboards to summarise member preferences, experiences, skills, salary expectations etc; and to summarise number of companies and recruiters utilising the platform, posting jobs, successful placements and other stats like this
— Member = number of jobs shortlisted, applied, chats/messages and other stages
— Recruiter/Company = number of jobs posted, members who have shortlisted and applied etc, and certain information on member statistics including countries of origin, experience, skills and salary expectations etc

This could certainly become a large project, but I want to make sure we roll out in stages and focus on getting something online ASAP. The initial priority is as follows:
– Landing/Home Page
– Profiles/Member Management = Members, Companies & Recruiters
– Jobs Board (including scraper)
– Analytics

Which makes these features to come in v2:
– Chat
– Online Courses
– Blog Posts
– News Feed
– Forums

A few notes:
– Initial focus is on attracting members/talent interested in applying for jobs, following this we will focus on getting Companies to take ownership of their profiles.
– Not interested in monetisation at this point, looking to grow a community of members trying to improve their careers through the use of the platform

Tech Stack (happy to consider other options):
– Webflow = no-code CMS so I can work on content and design subsequent to the MVP being finished
– Wized = build web apps in Webflow (member profiles, jobs board, online courses, news feed using AI aggregation etc, analytics and other) & Authentication
– TalkJs – chat between Members and Recruiters, however part of my niche market is focused on developing countries that do not have smart phones, and that rely on WhatsApp for communication. So best case scenario, users could register a profile, apply for jobs and communicate with Recruiters using WhatsApp – I know this is a stretch so not the focus here. Ideally though, we would push relevant new jobs sub-category WhatsApp groups
– Xano – Backend database (to be accessible with iOS and Android apps in the future)
