Key Game Mechanics:
Character Switching: Players can seamlessly switch between controlling Ida and Ed, using their individual abilities to overcome obstacles.
Ida Abilities:
Pull: Ida can use her hair as a lasso to swing and pull objects.
Float: Ida can create a parachute with her hair to safely descend from high platforms.
Rope: Ida can lower her hair for animals to climb up or for Ed to attach objects.
Jump: Ida can jump half the height of Ed.
Ed Abilities:
Jump: Ed can jump twice the height of Ida, reaching higher areas.
Follow: Ed automatically follows Ida when she’s ahead of him.
Stomp: Ed can stomp to loosen debris and release objects.
Project Tasks:
Hazards:
Toxic spill/ Water: Ida and Ed are briefly staggered, and steps back.
Sinking Platforms: Platforms will sink after a delay in a speed variable.
Implement all game mechanics as described above, including:
– Player movement and controls for both touch and PC input.
– Character switching functionality.
– Ida’s Pull, Float, and Rope abilities with object interaction logic.
– Ed’s Jump, Follow, and Stomp abilities with object interaction logic.
– Object and hazard behavior based on gameplay rules.
– Integrate with provided spreadsheets for ability balancing and flowcharts for game logic.
– Implement UI elements such as character status displays, ability icons, and level progression indicators.
– Fix bugs and glitches.
Your Tasks:
– Implement core mechanics based on Game Design Document (provided).
– Integrate character switching, abilities, object interaction, and hazard behavior.
– Develop touch and PC controls, UI elements, and level progression systems.
– Ensure smooth gameplay and fix bugs.
Required Skills:
– Experienced mobile game programmer with expertise in Unreal Engine.
– Strong understanding of 2.5D game mechanics and physics.
– Familiarity with touch controls and PC input methods.
– Experience working with UI elements and integrating them into games.
– Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
– Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

About us:
We are 3 students at The Norwegian Film School who are producing a multi media project as a masters project. We are producing an animated TV Series, Theatre experience, and a Video game based on a book series. The team working on all departments amass to over 20 people on 3D rigging, modelling and animation, Game Design, script writing, sound and music, and a director that oversees the creative direction. We believe in friendly and clear communication. The vision for the multi media project is that "small actions matter" with consideration of the environmental issues, and we wish to inspire children to make small actions that are good for the environment. With this game we want to reach children on the tablets, while the animated TV series reach them on streaming and the theatre in real life. We hope to find a candidate that share our values, and wishes to help inspire children in their everyday life.
